Axial-Tech Fans

The blade count has been increased on all three fans, with 13 on the center fan and 11 on the auxiliary fans. The barrier ring on the auxiliary fans has been slimmed down to allow for more lateral intake while the center fan's extra blades and full-height ring provide more static pressure to blast air directly onto the heat spreader. The center and auxiliary fans rotate in opposite directions to reduce air turbulence. The fans also shut off completely when the card's power consumption is low and the GPU temperature falls beneath 50°C, keeping noise levels down when the system isn't under load.

To get heat into the heatsink array efficiently, so that it can be blown away by the powerful Axial-tech fans, ASUS uses a manufacturing process that improves the surface smoothness of the heat spreader at the microscopic level. The extra flatness allows for better contact with the die, which enhances thermal transfer.

2.9-Slot Design

The heat spreader draws heat up into heatpipes that carry it through a fin stack that fills a large 2.9-slot footprint. Increasing the heatsink size compared to the last generation provides more thermal headroom to account for the high-performance chipset. With a larger design, it's important to make sure that your case has enough space for this card to fit as well as adequate airflow.

Backplate

A wide backplate vent and shortened PCB allow for hot air to escape towards the exhaust fans of a case instead of being recycled back into the cooler. A GPU bracket provides extra stability to the critical connection between the die and the heat spreader. The I/O bracket is made of stainless steel to protect the ports and provide a secure mount. A Dual BIOS switch allows you to switch between "performance" and "quiet" modes without software.

Customizable RGB Lighting

Customize the RGB lighting to match other ASUS ROG components with the Armoury Crate software. In the software, you'll be able to choose your color and a variety of lighting modes, such as Static, Breathing, Rainbow, Adaptive, and more. There is also an onboard circuit that monitors the PSU rail voltage. The circuit is fast enough to catch any transients that result in the rail voltage dropping too low. If that happens, a red LED will light up to indicate a power supply issue. The Strix's reinforced metal frame is also visible here, adding a literal layer of durability.

GPU TWEAK II

The ASUS GPU Tweak II utility takes graphics card tuning to the next level. It allows you to tweak critical parameters, including GPU core clocks, memory frequency, and voltage settings. You can also monitor everything in real-time through a customizable on-screen display. Advanced fan control is also included along with many more features to help you get the most out of your graphics card.
