In a converged network, consistent service quality and reliable connecting ability are crucial for carriers to connect and please consumers; as a result, the ability to control traffic flow and create traffic policy is more important than ever. The Zyxel MES3500 series provides wire-speed flow control by classifying and prioritising incoming packets based on predefined QoS criteria that fulfil service provider requirements. In terms of classification, the 802.1p Class of Service (CoS) field and the Differentiated Services Code Point (DSCP) field are used to determine the priority of incoming packets. Packets can be denied depending on source and destination MAC addresses, IP addresses, or TCP/UDP ports, according to the regulations. Service providers must have a fast recovery time and a network switch that is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to build a reliable network. The MES3500 series offers a wide range of capabilities to ensure that the network runs smoothly. IEEE 802.3ad Link Aggregation reduces network downtime by providing redundant paths and bandwidth aggregation to critical connections, whereas IEEE 802.1w Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP) and IEEE 802.1s Multiple Spanning Tree Protocol (MSTP) allow for immediate recovery from failed connections by sending packets over the backup link. The expanded digital interface provides real-time access to device operating parameters, as well as optional digital functionality like soft control and signal monitoring for SFP I/O signals.
